In 1994, international oil companies have established a consortium in order to operate Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli site which is 120 km away from Baku, Azerbaijan. TPAO holds 5,73% share via Joint Development And Productıon Sharing Agreement (JDPSA), effective since December 12, 1994.
This region has 120-175 metres water depth and consists of two licence areas. SOCAR operated Shallow Water Gunashli (SWG), in production since 1980, and BP operated Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG), in production since 1997.

Azeri - Chirag - Gunashli field has supplied approximately 3.3 billion barrels of oil to the world markets through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Pipeline.
